ALSAGER CHRISTMAS MARKET & LIGHT SWITCH ON – THE BEST IN CHESHIRE EAST!
Every year organisers of the Alsager Christmas Market & Light Switch On promise to deliver an event better than the year before, and this year they did just that with a combination of Christmas festive fun, on stage entertainment, Santa’s grotto, the lights switch-on, fireworks, fair-ground rides, an array of tasty food, shopping for all the family and for the first time Signal 1 Radio presenters partnered with Alsager Town and supported this fabulous event.
This year, the event was held on Sunday 26th November and the occasion was officially opened by Fiona Bruce MP. Maria Ashdown, Project Manager for Alsager Partnership said, “Fiona is a great supporter of Alsager and we were so grateful to have her, once again, recognise the occasion in this way”. The other guest of honour was Santa Clause, who performed the momentous light switch-on at 6pm and taking centre stage, of course, was the town’s beautifully lit Christmas tree, which was very generously sponsored by The Dutton Group, whose business is based in Middlewich.
In addition to all the outdoor activities and stalls, market sellers were also located inside the Alsager Civic alongside more on-stage entertainment and many town centre shops also remained open for late night shoppers on the hunt for Christmas gifts.
Maria Ashdown added “Alsager can be very proud; this is an incredible Christmas themed event and we are told that it’s one of the best attended in Cheshire East”. The event takes many months of planning and is organised by a small group of volunteers, chaired by local resident Christine Bates and supported heavily by Alsager Partnership, Alsager Round Table and PME Maintenance Ltd and is part-funded by Alsager Town Council.
