Become a Dementia Friend

In January 2017, Alsager Partnership pledged to work toward making Alsager a Dementia Friendly Town. As part of this, we already have many social activities in place and local shops and businesses on board to support this initiative. One big focus for us to make as many Dementia Friends in Alsager and the surrounding areas as possible and we have already made an incredible start to this process.

We are currently running a programme of FREE monthly Dementia Friend Sessions and anyone can attend. All sessions are held at The United Reform Church, Brookhouse Road, Alsager, ST7 2PA.

About Alzheimer’s Dementia Friend Programme

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

What is a Dementia Friend?

A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it's like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action - anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Whether you attend a face-to-face Dementia Friends Information Session or watch an online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

Information Sessions

Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create a dementia friendly community. Please contact us if you would like to attend a Dementia Friend Session. We don’t currently have set dates, but if demand is high enough we will put a session on.
